Walk Your Talk in 2005
January 03, 2005

Many of us talk a good game, but how many are willing to put it into action? Lao-Tse once said, "He who says, does not know. He who knows, does not say."

For most of us, it didn't take long as children to notice how people said they would do something (usually with fairly good intention, although we didn't know it) and then not do it. Perhaps it was first our parents who promised us something, but then didn't deliver. What happened? Were they planning deceit? Were they responding to a request because they could not say no? Were they promising to themselves something they knew they could never do, yet wanted so badly to be able to do it, finally, this one time? Maybe it was a best friend who first let you down, or perhaps a schoolteacher. It could have been anybody. You may have even come to expect it.

As you matured, you probably soon realized you did the same. Not intentionally. It's just that things changed. Or you changed your mind. Or, you did it thinking it might bring you attention, love, money, respect, or perhaps that it would satisfy your unmet needs. Maybe you just weren't being truthful with yourself.

Words are powerful sources of influence, but they often are the least reliable piece of information about who we are. Emerson said, "What you are speaks to me so powerfully that I can barely hear what you are saying." Indeed, we can lie with our words, but not with our being. We think we can fool ourselves and others, but only our actions reveal who we truly are.

As a coach, I help people "walk their talk". I help them live their life with integrity by helping them hold themselves accountable for their actions. I help them set boundaries, upgrade their personal standards, and clean up relationships. I help them design the life they want, and I ask of them bigger things than what they might ever ask of themselves. I help them achieve more than what they thought possible in their business and their life.

I want to be your personal and business coach and help you live that life you've always wanted. It can be done, and it can happen right now. Let's get started!
